Dear Co-op Families,
We hope you’ve been having a relaxing summer. Now, believe it or not, it’s time to plan for the start of a very exciting year! Here’s what you’ll need to know as we get ready for school to begin:
Orientation Workshop – Wednesday evening, September 5th, 6:30pm: At least one parent is required to attend this adult-only orientation. We’ll be reviewing essential procedures and policies, and you’ll have the opportunity to meet our staff and other Co-op families. Check the schedule below for the locations and times of sessions that pertain to you.
* Please arrive a few minutes early to hand in the required forms, if you haven’t already sent them to us.

School Starts Tuesday, Sept. 11th for all classes. During the Orientation Workshop, your child’s teacher will explain the daily schedule.
*IMPORTANT: Required Forms: Health, Immunization, Emergency Contact, Fingerprinting, etc.
On our website, www.watchungco-op.org/parentforms, we have posted forms that MUST be completed and returned either via mail (to make orientation smoother!) or at the Orientation Workshop so that your child may begin school. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow for this. The Universal Health Form must be completed by your pediatrician so please bring/send this to them immediately (many doctors require at least two weeks’ notice to complete forms). The immunization card need not be completed by your doctor but it does need to be filled in - you may record the accurate dates from your doctor’s records. If you do need input from your pediatrician, contact them immediately. Returning families must also submit these forms. Both state and local authorities require (and check for) up-to-date student health records as a prerequisite of a child’s attending school. For new students, also included is the Child Abuse Record Information (CARI) form. Every primary co-oping caregiver must complete this form and schedule fingerprinting. This is required by the NJ Department of Children and Families to retain licensure for the Co-op.
Lunch Program Sign-Up for Creative students (12:00-12:30): The lunch program is a favorite! If you’re interested, bring a check and sign up at the Orientation Workshop. A deposit of 1/3 of the lunch fee is required at orientation. Please see enclosed tuition sheet. Note: Lunch program is already included in DPK tuition.
Communication: Communication will be covered extensively at the orientation. Prior to orientation, you should receive an text prompting you to sign-up for the Remind application to your cell phone. Remind is a great resource that the teachers use to quickly text the entire community regarding important notices or events. Please download this app as soon as possible so you do not miss a message. If you do not receive a text, please let your teacher know.
Family Involvement: This is a core element of life at the Co-op, and the opportunity to be a hands-on participant in your child’s first educational experience is one of the most rewarding aspects of our school. Each family enrolled is responsible for:
For a complete explanation of Family Involvement and Responsibilities, refer to pages 1 & 2 of the Parent Handbook. Please read your handbook thoroughly – it will answer most of your basic questions about how the school works.
New Family Job Sign Up: In the beginning weeks of the school year, our family job coordinator will be contacting you via email regarding family job openings, job descriptions, etc. Please consider what family job may fit your skills and schedule!
Class Openings: We have openings available in our Creative classroom, ages 2.5+. If you know someone who may be interested, please have them contact our Co-VP of Enrollment, Mary Szubiak: email@example.com.
We extend a warm welcome to families joining us for the first time this year, and we look forward to meeting up again with all of our returning families. If you have any questions or concerns before school starts, please contact us.
Enjoy the remaining summer holiday & see you at Orientation!
